CHRIST, HIS ULTIMATE SACRIFICE. - Chapel Chat

A true story. In the early 1900’s, on the east coast, a drawbridge operator for ships and trains was on duty. On this particular day he had brought his young son to watch the operation. A ship had just passed through and he was ready to pull the lever that lowered the drawbridge for the passenger train that was coming. Suddenly his son stumbled and fell into the machinery below, In extreme agony, the man had a decision to make. Should he go down and rescue his son or lower the drawbridge so he wouldn’t wreck the oncoming passenger train. He slowly pulled the lever to lower the drawbridge knowing it would be the death of his son. He was comforted by many for his difficult choice but he never went back to his job. A huge sacrifice for the salvation of many people.
A Father and Son, yet equals, were discussing the creation of the world and what would happen to the humans that would be created.
I Peter 1:18-23. Knowing that the humans would choose to follow their own will instead of God’s will, they made a plan to save mankind. After waiting 4000 years, the Son came down from heaven and became a human. He then offered Himself as a righteous, blood sacrifice to eternally save all those who would choose Him. Total sacrifice, total simplicity, yet most humans refuse the offer. Fulfill the plan, choose Christ, the sacrifice for your sin, enjoy eternal life.
