Alan Redpath was the only son of James and Christina Redpath. He first studied to become an accountant and he worked in this capacity until 1935. He left the next year to go into full time evangelism joining the National Young Life League. The first congregation he was appointed to was the Duke Street Chapel in Richmond. He was next called to become the pastor of the famous Moody Church in Chicago and there he received an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity Degree. After his time in Chicago, he returned to Scotland to take up the position as the pastor of Charlotte Baptise Chapel in Edinburgh. A stroke from which he recovered, happening at this time, caused him to suffer bouts of deep depression. This did not abate his Christian zeal however, for in 1956, he entered a more widespread ministry speaking at conferences and churches, which were greatly blessed by God, many souls saved and lives transformed and set on fire for God. His sermons, books and writings will continue to challenge lives.
