Sometimes I wonder sadly why
The people do not care

Sometimes I wonder sadly why
The people do not care
That God Himself was sacrificed
Our punishment to bear

It seems so strange at Christmas time
With all the peoples’ fun
They don’t remember Bethlehem
The Offer of God’s Son

It seems as if our Christmas
Is just a festive time
Of presents, songs and comic tunes
Of Him hardly a sign

Today I wonder sadly
If the Master should apear
In all our preparations
Would we cry in shame and fear?

Oh let us think of Bethlehem
With awe of Calvary
Of God who sent His Precious Son
To die for you and me
