Experience, the True Test – Charles Spurgeon
A NEGRO was once told by a friend that some man had said the Bible was not true. Now, our poor friend had never thought anybody could doubt the Bible, but his quick way of disposing of the novel difficulty was, “Dat book not true! why, I take it into my house and I sit down and read it, and it make my heart laugh. How can it be a lie dat make my heart laugh? I was drunkard, thief, and liar, and dat book talked to me and made me a new man—dat book no lie.” The very best proof in the world, surely, at least to the man himself, if not to others. We who have had our hearts made to laugh by God’s word cannot be laughed out of our faith.
