CAESAR’S imperial couch is hard compared with the bosom of God. Caesar’s scepter is a cumbrous thing compared with the ring of love which surrounds our finger. Give us but the Father’s love, and who will may have the Indies. Ay, let the worlds be given to whom God may please, as men give husks to swine, if we have his love it is enough, our soul is filled to the brim, and flows over with satisfaction.
