GOD THE GREAT GIVER, WE THE HUMBLE RECEIVERS - Chapel Chat
Parents love to give gifts to their children, especially to obedient, appreciative children and grandchildren. What a joy to see them accept the gifts with thankfulness!
The awesome, mighty God of creation also loves to give gifts to those who will come to Him to be forgiven for offending Him. Even to ignore the one who made us is a great offense.
It all begins with word of God. God has revealed Himself and His plan for the creatures he created, in His word, the Bible. This plan narrows down to the gospel that is preached to the whole world. The gospel concerns the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ for our sin. Those who will receive the gospel (I Thess. 2:13) and receive Christ, become a part of the family of God. (John 1:12). What a great gift, the Son as a sacrifice for our sins. The offense has ceased. These believers receive eternal forgiveness of sins. They also receive life eternal with the Father, the Son and the host of the family of God.
I doesn’t end there. He seals those who have chosen Him by giving them the Holy Spirit, (Acts 2:38) so they can begin to understand the great gifts they have received as sons of God. When we finally arrive in heaven, the Father has crowns (gifts) for those who have served Him in various ways.
What an array of priceless gifts, the word to inform us, Christ to forgive us, eternal life and the Holy Spirit to enjoy our God and crowns for service to Him. Repent, believe and receive, then thank Him.
