Godly Man - Martha Petrusevich
Godly Man
A man of God, will seek the Truth,
Study and pursue it from his youth.
Will seek the Lord, will seek His way,
Will seek God’s will, each passing day.
Will grow in righteousness and peace,
Making them to grow and increase.
Study the scriptures deeply, day by day,
Growing, God’s image to portray.
Will fear the Lord and love him too,
Being so gentle, kind, and true.
Being honest, reliable, and just,
Are counted in his life a must.
Putting all sin and wrong away,
Will grow anew, in faith each day.
Will trust the Lord with all his heart,
And from the truth will not depart.
Will thank the Lord for each new day,
Will thank the Lord, that he can pray.
Knowing that all things come from above,
Blessings, mercy, grace, and love.
For fads and trends, he has no time,
For foolish things, iniquity, and crime.
He knows, what he is living for,
What future, God has for him in store.
He doesn’t look for fame or glory,
He tells others the salvation story.
He does not spend his time in vain,
He does not grumble or complain.
A worldly lifestyle, he does not pursue,
His clothes are plain and modest too.
Brand name clothes and fancy shoes,
Are not the things that he’d buy or use.
Spiked up hair and flashy clothes,
Are not the things for him, he knows.
He does not drive the nicest car,
He knows it won’t get him very far.
He does not need to get a loan,
To have the newest car or phone.
He does not need the best array,
For it will so quickly, fade and decay.
Beautiful muscles are not top priority,
Or thinking and being, like the majority.
Being the best and being the coolest,
Being the strongest or being the cruellest.
Or having fun and so much laughter,
Are not the things that he is seeking after.
He rather seeks wisdom and knowledge,
He does not need to find them in college.
He uses money wisely for he knows,
There are so many without food or clothes.
He toils daily for his food and bread,
That his family could be clothed and fed.
He sees, were work needs to be done,
Though it might not be clean or fun.
He does it all with joy and pleasure,
He lays up daily, that heavenly treasure.
He isn’t scared to stand up for truth,
Will not tolerate falsehood or untruth.
He keeps his heart so clean and pure,
Though persecution he might endure.
Will be a man with faith so strong,
Will keep himself from sin and wrong.
Will flee from Satan’s, strong temptation,
Will build his house on strong foundation.
Will try to be a righteous man,
Will do the very best, in all he can.
Will serve the Lord with determination,
Spreading the gospel to each nation.
He serves the Lord in everything,
He serves the Great and mighty King.
He serves the God, who made him free,
Who died for him upon the tree.
