I Ask for a Blessing
I ask you, my God, for a blessing,
Though just what your blessing may mean
I ask you, my God, for a blessing,
Though just what your blessing may mean
Is buried in clouds of confusion,
And hid in the future, unseen.
Just what should be chosen to bless me
You know so much better than I.
Though flattering hopes may entice me,
It’s only for blessing I cry.
I place in your hands all my interests,
And wait for your grace to provide.
Just how, when, and where you will do so,
I leave it with you to decide.
I ask you, my God, for the blessing,
Which you in your wisdom impart,
And know that your infinite goodness
Will grant the desire of my heart.
