“I” WAS ONCE DEAD IN TRESPASSES AND SINS.

“I” WAS ONCE DEAD IN TRESPASSES AND SINS. - Chapel Chat

For 24 years I walked according to the pleasures and lusts of this world and enjoyed it. I thought I was doing alright. I was not into gross sin and tried to please my parents. Satan was slowly leading me to do what was “right in my own eyes” and wrong with a holy God. Ephesians 2:1 describes my condition, “I was dead in trespasses and sins.”  Death means to be separated, and in this case it means to be separated from God. My original great, great,——forefather, Adam,  had separated me from God and I continued to prove it.

I started listening to a radio pastor who was speaking on Ephesians 2:1-10. He continued to drum into me that I was spiritually dead and needed to be made alive by the grace of God. I was a condemned man and desperately needed a pardon.  Sunday School verses came into my mind: All have sinned, all are guilty, there is no one who does good. I somewhat believed these things but had never applied them to myself. After three weeks I finally understood my “lost”, separated condition and turned to Christ to restore my broken relationship with God.  God, by grace, forgave all my sin and brought me immediately into fellowship with Himself and fellow Christians saved by grace.

The Holy Spirit, who was sent down from heaven, has as a first responsibility the job of convicting all of sin. John 16:8. When convicted, He then shows them the righteousness of Christ and the sacrifice that he paid for our sin. Read and believe Ephesians 2:1-10.
