Keep me, Lord
Keep me, Lord, by your side; my own ways I resign,
And I want to abide as a branch in the vine.
Keep me, Lord, by your side; my own ways I resign,
And I want to abide as a branch in the vine.
With your glory my goal, and your purpose my aim,
May the life of my soul be to honor your name.
May the things of this earth be esteemed in their place,
As of far lesser worth than the light of your face.
And what’s worldly and vain may I see with your eyes,
And so treat with disdain what by nature I prize.
In the world there’s no course that my spirit can feed,
For my God is the source of the food that I need.
Only life from your root gives the strength I require
For the fullness of fruit which is all my desire.
Though the world show its hate, in your word I would stay,
For your promise is great to the ones who obey.
You have called me your friend, and have proved yourself true.
Help me stay to the end, and be true to you too.
