READY TO FORGIVE
Hello and greetings in the Name of the Son of Him Who is Ready to Forgive, Jesus Christ! “For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in lovingkindness to all who call upon You.” –Psalm 86:5 It’s a wonderful thing that the psalmist—writing by the Holy Spirit and with an obvious knowledge of the character of God—was able to write these words authoritatively. The Lord is ready to forgive all who call upon Him. Although the aforementioned verse was actually written in the context of the Lord helping those who had already identified the LORD as their God, it is still theologically accurate to say, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” –Romans 10:13 KJV. Hallelujah! A merciful, forgiving, loving, kind and good God is our Lord. “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” –Ephesians 4:32 KJV
Our outreach in the East Rand ended on Wednesday. During the 12 days that we were active there were a number of people who either stayed behind in order to get saved, to turn back to the Lord or for some other spiritual need. And in most cases we were only allowed to sow the Gospel without making an invitation and so we can pray that the Good News bears fruit. I’m very thankful for your prayers, and the willing attitudes of the Bible School students made it a pleasant endeavor. Praise the Lord! My grandmother, Mr. Van Niekerk and Mr. Kussman would find that the Lord is ready to forgive—yes, still today, if they call upon His Name. Three days ago, right after the outreach, I got sick (most probably with food poisoning). This was pretty interesting, because as a result of exhaustion, illness, fever and the intermittent sleep, the distinction between reality and dream got a little hazy during the second night and it was one of my closest encounters with what it must feel like to be really delusional. But the worst is over. Lord-willing I’ll be back to a diet of human food in the next 24 hours… or 48 hours. The following is from the persecuted family (some of these events I mentioned last week).
“We express our sincere thanks and appreciation for your prayers. There have been two more attempts to seriously harm us, but each time the Lord prevented this. In the days following the same ring of criminals then brutally attacked and killed several other people in our area. After an unusual and most extensive police search involving several helicopters it was reported that most of the criminals have been identified but not apprehended. In quickly deteriorating circumstances the Lord saved our lives. Currently we are being threatened with new legal action to drive us from our home and mission which we legally occupy. We cannot afford the lawyer’s fees to oppose the matter and must fully rely on God’s help. Thank you for your prayer support.” On Thursday our Passover camp starts in the Free State, and the following Monday the youth camp begins. Please pray that the Lord will bring the right people to both of these camps, for the Lord to work in hearts and lives, and for me and Daniël as we make our final preparations. May God receive the glory due Him! “They refused to listen, And did not remember Your wondrous deeds which You had performed among them; So they became stubborn and appointed a leader to return to their slavery in Egypt. But You are a God of forgiveness, Gracious and compassionate, Slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness; And You did not forsake them.” –Nehemiah 9:17 NAS –Louis Gervais
