SUSTAINS THE HUMBLE - Louis Gervais
SUSTAINS THE HUMBLE
Hello and greetings in the Name of the Son of Him Who Sustains the Humble, Jesus Christ!
“The LORD sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground.” –Psalm 147:6
He that is truly humble, he that knows his God and maintains a lowly inner posture and respectful attitude towards his Maker—such is the man which is sustained by God. But that is not the case with the wicked. The wicked man—having refused to bow low to the ground before God, having lifted up his eyes in rebellious pride and despised God—this man is then cast down to the ground by God. So, in either case you will be near the ground, but God’s hand is either underneath you, sustaining you, or above you, suppressing you. Choose your preference.
“He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich He hath sent empty away.” –Luke 1:52-53
The NAS says, “And has exalted those who were humble.” There’s quite a bit of divine comfort in the phrase, “The LORD sustains the humble.” He comforts them with His presence. Jesus said in Matthew 11:28 , “Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” God is able and willing to sustain those who abandon themselves completely upon Him.
Should there come a day,
When we’re required to make a choice,
Let us choose God’s highest way;
Let us discern His voice.
Other Christians might compromise,
But I could not do the same;
Lest it bring about my demise,
Lest I dishonor Christ’s Holy Name.
“For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, Whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.” –Isaiah 57:15
Please continue to pray for my grandmother, Mr. Van Niekerk, Mr. Kussman and their families, for life is a fragile thing. I experienced some wonderful answers to prayer this week—which happened with such exact precision that it could not possibly have been by coincidence. Hallelujah! Please keep praying.
I arrived safely in Cape Town on Friday and we have begun with the pilgrim meetings. Lord willing, the year-end convention is from Wednesday to Sunday. The campgrounds are fully booked. If you’d like to, pray specifically for an evangelistic play we’re doing for the youth on Friday night, and for the Lord to bless us with the anointing of His presence during the services. “Let all those that seek Thee rejoice and be glad in Thee: and let such as love Thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified.” –Psalm 70:4
