Charles and John Wesley Poems
Charles and John Wesley were the well-known brothers who were instrumental in the Revival and awakening in Britain and the founders of the Methodist Movement, to whom was attributed the reason for Britain escaping a similar plight as that which came to France with the French Revolution. They were part of the famous ‘Holy Club’ in Oxford in their university days and while John was the preacher, it was Charles who wrote thousands of poems set to music which are still sung today and will continue to be sung while the world remains. Famous hymns like ‘Love Divine’ and ‘Soldiers of Christ Arise’ and ‘Christ the Lord is Risen today’ among countless others. The world would have been a poorer place without these two brothers and we are indebted to them for the hymns of our faith.
