When Jesus Washed my Sins Away - Lydia C. Brainard
In sinful darkness I was bound,
And in my heart no light I found.
In sinful darkness I was bound,
And in my heart no light I found.
The chains of sin round me were tied,
I listened to Satan when he lied.
I did the things he told me to,
Though in my heart “they’re wrong” I knew.
My conscience pricked me hard each day,
I would not leave my sinful way.
Until my Jesus came one day,
And oh, the light he shed my way,
My sinful night was turned to day,
When Jesus washed my sins away.
Those chains fell off and made me free.
My blinded eyes could also see.
So now I live to praise his name,
He is forever just the same.
