Why should I make an effort,
Exert myself each day,
When I could be reclining
And slouch upon life’s way?

One day when I reach heaven,
What shame will fill my breast,
That I had been so lazy
Not given of my best!

How can I meet my Saviour
Knowing that I’ve misused
The precious time He’s given,
Lazily it abused?

Let me redeem the moments,
Given by God to me,
Work in the time allotted,
Fulfil my destiny.
