Give Thanks to the Lord

Sorrow possess my soul;

Troubles beyond my control

Are posing a powerful threat;

The devil is laying his net,

Hoping to catch and destroy;

Trying to rob me of joy.

But the God of the day is the God of the night,

And I trust in the one who has always been right,

And give thanks to the Lord for His mercy endureth for ever.

Feeling the enemy’s dart,

Fear takes a hold of my heart,

And all of my strength is removed;

My weakness has fully been proved.

Everything crumbles, it seems;

All of my hope and my dreams,

But I look to the face of my Saviour above,

And I trust in His promise and rest in His love.

And give thanks to the Lord for His mercy endureth for ever.

Terror is conquering fast;

Courage is part of the past;

I’m doubting my Father’s control

And putting a blot on my soul.

Now I am troubled within,

Thinking my doubting is sin,

But the one who has made me remembers my frame.

And I turn to my God who is always the same,

And give thanks to the Lord for His mercy endureth for ever.
