The Golf was completely new and completely different from the Beetle it replaced.

But, even though the first Golf was seen as revolutionary, development has never stopped. Over the years the engineers regularly upgraded and improved the Golf. A can be seen in the picture below, the latest Golfs are a far cry from what it used to be. It is no longer just a pocket-rocket but a state of the art refined vehicle.

You and I were like the Beetle. It was when we accepted Jesus Christ into our lives that we became like Golf 1, that we became completely new in Christ. But God doesn’t stop working in us once we have given our lives to Him, he doesn’t want us to remain the same forever. So daily He works in us, engineering a new and better life for us.

God does not want us to remain the same. He desires us to grow in Him. He wants us to be better than before. He wants us to have more faith than we had before. He wants us to give more than we gave before. He wants us to whole, to be complete in Him. The Word says that we should be renewed in the spirit of our mind (Ephesians 4:23)

For the mind to be renewed we need to constantly upload new and fresh content. It is therefore of utmost importance to find the right content. This is found in Scripture (Bible). By studying the Word (Bible) we are allowing new content to fill our minds. Of course is does not help bottling up all the information in our minds. In order to grow we must also practice the Word. In other words we must do what the Word tells us to do. Like there is no sense having the latest Golf parked in storage, there is no sense in gathering the knowledge of God without practicing it. Let us therefore allow God to renew us by studying the Word and allow the Word in us to grow and serve the purpose God has called us to.
