Ezra Brainard grew up in a Christian home where old spiritual books and poetry bundles were always readily available. He was saved as a young man and was deeply burdened to reach souls. This eventually led him to become a missionary in Brazil and he serves the Lord there with his wife and children. He is related to David Brainard the famous missionary to the Indians who was known as a man of prayer. He has written several poems and some of these have been put to music and had a deep impact on lives.
