Jonathan Edwards is known across the world for the impact his sermon, ‘Sinners in the Hand of an Angry God’. He came from a large family, his father being a minster in Windsor. Spurgeon was converted in 1721. He pastored a church at the age of 18, lectured at Yale for two years. He had met his wife Sarah when he was only 20 and she much younger, having immediately been impressed with her devotion for God. There are many interesting facets and accomplishments of Jonathan Edward’s life that could be enumerated, but we rather remember him for the key figure he was in the Awakening that was to sweep across America, that impacted the world alongside Whitfield and the Wesley’s and still touch lives today. Jonathan Edwards was a prolific writer as well, and his written works can still be accessed today and draw us to a deeper understanding of God.
